When the new Macbooks came out a few weeks ago, Nvidia stated that the chips they provided to Apple did not contain the so-called bad bumps material believed to have caused higher-than-expected defect rates in certain notebooks, namely from HP and Dell, under certain usage models. But an investigation lead by The Inquirer seems to show this not to be the case.

HP's US online store has revealed that company's Mini-Note line is due to be expanded with a new model, the Mini 1000. An ad for the Mini 1000 appeared on the site over the weekend, though it now seems to have been pulled. Screengrabs of the banner reveal not only the machine's name but also that it's less than 25mm thick and weighs just over a kilo.

HP today became the second major storage vendor to make a big move into the iSCSI market this year, with a US$360 million acquisition of LeftHand Networks. The move follows Dell's US$1.4 billion acquisition of EqualLogic earlier this year and adds HP's name to the list of vendors chasing the fast-growing IP storage market.

Hewlett-Packard (HP), the world's largest computer company, says it plans to cut 24,600 jobs, almost 8% of its workforce, to streamline its business. The cuts will take place over the next three years as it combines operations with Electronic Data Systems, the technology company it recently bought.
