Lextar IR LED biometric sensor modules
Lextar Electronics has released the PR88 IR LED packaging module for iris and facial biometric functions, making it one of a few IR LED modules in the industry with double biometric functions. It also has released two IR LED modules with different beam angles that can be applied on security systems, access control systems, mobile phones, notebook PCs and others. Lextar's newly released iris and facial double biometric IR LED is capable of achieving double identification recognition functions with just one module, according to the company. It is in a 1.4mm ultra-slim design. The other two IR packages come with different beam angles: one with a smaller beam angle that can be used for iris recognition, and the other with a larger beam angle that can be used for facial recognition. Lextar said its product series have all passed the IEC 62471 highest level of human eye security exemption tests, while its algorithm and software have been verified by various well-known brands.

Lextar Pandora Mood Lamp
Lextar's Pandora Mood Lamp is capable of creating natural light indoors. Apart from its main downward white light functions,it also offers various mixed-color ambient light directed upwards. Through smartphones, it captures images of nature, analyzes its colors, and transmits the signals to the lamp via Wi-Fi to enable the simulation of natural light indoors. Its major light source is a lightweight ultra-slim panel light that provides uniform and soft light. With its somatosensory gesture control, users can operate the lamp between downward main lighting functions and upward indirect ambient lighting.

Lextar to debut latest plug-in COB
Taiwan-based LED firm Lextar has announced its latest plug-in COB, Core series. Lextar will formally unveil the new product from June 9-12 at the 2013 Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition. The Core series is optical mechanical integrated and delivers high lumen output, Lextar said. Its plug-and-play connector brings additional savings to customers from reduced costs of luminaires, since conventional soldering process was replaced with mechanically designed connector that allows Core to be connected in series. Core series is also applicable to omni-directional bulbs when equipped with designated lens for wider beam angle. As high as 1,500 lumen can be delivered within less than 1cm diameter, giving an unrivaled lumen per area of over 60% advancement. The product has an efficiency of 125 lm/W. Lextar expects Core series to be mass produced in the second quarter of this year.
