Tata Technologies, a subsidiary of Tata Group, announced that it had joined the Foxconn-initiated MIH consortium, the third company under Tata Group to join MIH.
According to Foxconn's press release, Tata Technologies joined MIH to promote the development of sustainable mobility solutions and stimulate cooperation within the industry. Tata Technologies hopes to collaborate with other members on solutions and capabilities that deliver value for its stakeholders and enable it to innovate new solutions.
Foxconn's official Facebook also said in a post expressing its welcome to Tata Technologies as a member of the MIH consortium. Tata Technologies has been deeply involved in the automotive field for nearly 30 years and has many excellent technologies and services in electric vehicles. Tata Technologies' participation will help bring innovative industry development, introducing more solutions for the EV industry and accelerating product development.
Foxconn said that there are more than 2,300 MIH members. In addition to Tata Technologies, Tata Motors, a leading electric four-wheeler brand in India, and Tata Elxsi, a technology service provider for automobile, broadcast, and health applications, have joined the consortium.
In recent years, Foxconn has been expanding its India investments. Besides increasing smartphone production capacity in India in response to Apple's supply chain diversification, Foxconn plans to invest in semiconductor and EV manufacturing. Young Liu, chairman of Foxconn, said in October 2021 that Foxconn is considering EV manufacturing in developed and emerging markets, including India. The Economic Times cited unnamed sources reporting that Foxconn may invest in India's EV manufacturing unit through Foxctron.
