Chip resistor maker Ta-I Technology is expected to see demand for its products, including chip resistors in 0402 and 0603 sizes, remain flat in the third quarter as Intel and Microsoft are migrating to new platforms in the fourth quarter, according to industry sources.
Ta-I saw its net profits soar 285% sequentially to NT$48 million (US$1.6 million) in the second quarter of 2012. The earnings translated into an EPS of NT$0.20 for the quarter. Gross margin for the second quarter stood at 16.03% compared to 14.97% in the previous quarter.
However, for the first half of 2012, net profits slipped 48.4% on year to NT$60.45 million, which translated into an EPS of NT$0.25, down significantly from NT$0.49 a year earlier.
