Nokia will roll out a total of nine more mobile-phone models by the end of this year, including two smartphones and a one-megapixel phone, said Loren Shuster, general manager of Nokia Taiwan, at the launch conference for Nokia’s 3220 model yesterday.
The upcoming phones will cover the whole range of consumer markets, from entry-level to the high-end, said Shuster. Four of the phones are clamshell design, he added.
When 3G (third-generation) mobile communication services are rolled out in Taiwan, the handset vendor will launch a 3G (third-generation) model, the 6630, via domestic telecom carriers Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and Taiwan Cellular Corporation (TCC), Shuster stated.
The 3G rollout is expected to start in Taiwan early next year, according to sources in the Taiwan telecom industry.
