Taiwan broadband CPE industry, 1Q 2026: 10G upgrades drive volume but pricing pressures linger

Global broadband CPE shipments in the second quarter of 2026 are estimated to see a yearly growth of 3.4%, with PON CPE supporting shipment growth.
Abstract

DIGITIMES observes that the global broadband customer-premises equipment (CPE) market has entered a bottom-rebound phase, although Taiwanese makers' market share remains under pressure. Global broadband CPE shipments reached 44.4 million units in the first quarter of 2026, up 1.9% year on year, and are projected to further recover to 45.32 million units in the second quarter of 2026, up 3.4% from a year earlier, confirming a gradual recovery momentum.

However, total global production value reached only US$3.3 billion, representing a modest 1.5% annual increase, with shipment growth noticeably outpacing value growth, indicating that overall average selling prices (ASPs) remain under pressure.

In contrast, Taiwanese broadband CPE makers shipped 15.44 million units in the first quarter of 2026, down 7.1% year on year, bucking the global trend. The divergence is mainly due to stable PON CPE demand in China, where the supply chain is dominated by Chinese makers, limiting Taiwanese makers' market access and creating a structural gap between global and Taiwanese shipment performance.
