India-based EMS provider Kaynes Technology is expected to open a new manufacturing unit in Kerala. The company will receive land in Perumbavoor Industrial Park, developed by KINFRA, following approval from State Industries Minister P. Rajeeve after a site visit and discussions.
According to Business Line, at the Invest Kerala Global Investors' Summit, Kaynes signed an MoU with the Industries Department, committing to an investment of INR5 billion (US$58.23 million) and creating over 2,000 jobs in the state. Headquartered in Karnataka, Kaynes designs and manufactures electronic products for sectors including automotive, industrial, railways, medical, and aerospace, operating eight units across India and a service center in Kochi.
The land, once owned by Travancore Rayons Company, is now under KINFRA. The new unit will initially focus on research and development, with the first phase expected to begin within 18 months. Minister Rajeeve assured fast-tracked approvals and said Kaynes' entry will encourage more electronics industries to invest in Kerala.
Kaynes Technology expanded its manufacturing footprint in 2024 with new facilities and significant investments across India. The company inaugurated a modern electronics manufacturing plant in Hyderabad in August 2024. This facility supports sectors including industrial, automotive, medical, aerospace, and telecommunications.
In September, Kaynes received Indian government approval to establish an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) plant in Sanand, Gujarat, via its subsidiary Kaynes Semicon Private Ltd. The facility represents an investment of around INR33 billion and is projected to handle assembly and testing of up to 6 million semiconductor chips daily. It will serve a variety of industries such as electric vehicles, consumer electronics, IT, telecom, and automotive.
