Huawei has confirmed that its Pura 80 series and a range of ecosystem devices will debut at a launch event on June 11 at 2:30 pm local time. The announcement comes just one day after Apple kicks off its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), fueling speculation of a strategic face-off between the two tech giants.

Richard Yu, Executive Director of Huawei and Chairman of its Consumer Business Group, confirmed the launch on Weibo, stating, "The Huawei Pura 80 series is about to meet you!" As one of the company's premium smartphone lines, the Pura series continues to generate strong industry interest.

Analysts anticipate the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra will feature the industry's largest periscope telephoto lens and expanded AI capabilities. The series is also expected to be the first high-end flagship powered by HarmonyOS 5. In addition to the smartphones, Huawei is likely to unveil foldable tablets and other next-generation hardware.

At WWDC, Apple is expected to roll out major software updates—including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26—ushering in a new naming convention based on release year. The company may also introduce "Apple Intelligence," a suite of AI-powered features that could include support for third-party voice assistants.

While Huawei's event will spotlight hardware, Apple's WWDC will center on next-generation software. Despite contrasting focuses, both companies are poised to emphasize artificial intelligence as a central theme in their upcoming product strategies.
