Delta Electronics has announced plans to invest approximately CNY1.45 billion (US$199.2 million) in the expansion of its industrial site in Chongqing, China by adding a new facility.

The new facility will be engaged in the manufacture of mainly cooling and thermal fans, power supplies for notebook and communication devices, and automotive electronics products, according to the Taiwan-based electronics manufacturing company.

Delta is also expanding capacity at its other industrial sites in China, including Chenzhou, Dongguan, Wuhu, and Wujiang, as well as in Taiwan, where it is constructing a new facility in Chungli, Taoyuan (northern Taiwan). The expansion of its Taiwan facility is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024, the company said.

In addition, Delta has plans to build factories in Dallas, the US, and Eastern Europe, in 2023. The company also expects to set up four factories in India this year, which had been previously delayed, and also will open two factories in Thailand.

Delta CEO Ping Cheng was quoted in previous reports as saying that the company's new factory in Chongqing would focus on making notebook power supply devices as the city is a key notebook manufacturing hub. Delta is also planning to make electric vehicle (EV) products at the plant, which can be transported to European customers via the Trans-Asian Railway.
