The AI frenzy driven by ChatGPT continues, and major Chinese technology companies, including Baidu and Alibaba Cloud, have launched large-scale AI models.
Furthermore, Huawei Cloud, Peng Cheng Laboratory (PCL), and companies representing the Wuhan AI industrial cluster are currently highlighting a series of ChatGPT-like AI models at the Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Expo (InnoEX) from April 12-15.
Huawei Cloud is showcasing its Pangu AI large model at the trade fair.
According to Tian Qi, Huawei Cloud's chief scientist for AI, Huawei established the Pangu model in 2021 and has developed technology and case studies in fields such as large-scale computer vision (CV), natural language processing (NLP), and scientific computing.
The Pangu AI tools have three branch products: NLP text models, visual applications, and genomics. Among them, Huawei is currently accelerating the development of the text computing capability of the NLP text models, with related tools likely to come online in August 2023, according to Huawei's representatives at the trade site.
The sources indicated that Nvidia is currently the primary contender in the field of large AI models. Since Nvidia is leading in the international market, Huawei will initially focus on the Chinese market and collaborate with related AI hardware and software companies to continuously incubate relevant technology applications.
Regarding customer base, the representatives pointed out that about 90% of their customers are local Chinese businesses, while the remaining 10% are international.
Regarding promoting Huawei's Pangu AI large model, Tian Qi pointed out that the company is focusing on upgrading related AI tool development from a "workshop-style" to an "industrialized" approach.
Apart from the NLP large model, Pangu also has practical applications in the fields of intelligent document search, meteorology, forensic accounting, and more.
