Pegatron saw its March revenue rebound above NT$100 billion (US$3.3 billion), thanks to better-than-expected notebook shipments.
Pegatron's March revenue reached NT$101.2 billion, a 9.77% sequential increase and a 12.37% on-year decrease. Accumulated first-quarter revenue totaled NT$318.1 billion for an on-year slip of 1.76%.
Pegatron shipped 750,000-800,000 notebooks in March, up from 550,000 in February. Accumulated notebook shipments in the first quarter reached 1.65-1.7 million, a 6% sequential increase.
Pegatron originally estimated that information products would decrease sequentially in the first quarter, but the outstanding performance of its notebook business resulted in an increase.
Going into the traditional off-season, Pegatron anticipates consumer products and communications products will decrease in the first quarter compared with the previous quarter, with overall revenue expected to be slightly weaker than fourth-quarter 2022.
Pegatron believes information product shipments will remain flat in the second quarter and gradually increase in the third. Consumer products will benefit from new product launches and are expected to remain flat or increase. Communications products are expected to slightly recover.
Pegatron expects overall performance for 2023 will be on par with 2022, mainly due to various external challenges outside of the control of individual companies, including the poor global economy, exchange rates, and interest rates. As a result, Pegatron remains cautious about its outlook for the year.
