India roundup: Made-in-India iPhone shipments doubled in 2022

iPhone manufacturers, such as Foxconn and Wistron, are expanding their production capacity in India, and India-based EMS giant Dixon plans to increase their mobile phone exports.

Made-in-India iPhones grew 162% by value in 2022

According to Counterpoint, due to weak consumer demand, made-in-India smartphone shipments declined 19% annually in the fourth quarter of 2022 and 3% on-year in 2022, with made-in-India iPhones growing 65% annually by volume and 162% by value.

India invites hackers for first operational quantum telecom network link

According to Hindu BusinessLine, Ashwini Vaishnaw, union minister of communications of India, said that India's first quantum computing-based telecom network link is now operational between Sanchar Bhawan and National Informatics Centre office in New Delhi, adding that the Indian government had launched a hackathon, and anyone who breaks the system will be given INR1 million (about US$12,160) per break.

Dixon targets US$100 billion handsets exports from India

MoneyControl quoted Sunil Vachani, founder and chairman of Dixon Technologies, saying that the India-based EMS provider is looking to grow its mobile phone exports from the current US$10 billion to US$100 billion in five years.
