Memory module maker Apacer Technology is teaming up with Industrial PC specialist Adlink Technology to develop rugged-level edge computing solutions for AIoT device applications, according to the Taiwan-based companies.

Apacer stated that the two sides will be integrating Apacer's technological capability in industrial control storage applications with Adlink's rich development experience in AI edge computing platforms to provide solutions for emerging applications. The solution will overcome previous limits and technical bottlenecks to showcase the best computing system performance and stability.

The opportunity for this partnership rose when observations found out that computing system shutdowns are often related to abnormalities in industrial-grade SSDs. They believe that increasing the stability of the storage devices will be extremely helpful for the development of edge computing and AI applications.

Adlink has a CompactPCI industrial-grade single-panel computer product line that uses advanced serial transmission technology. Equipped with Apacer's effective industrial-grade SSD solution, it offers excellent performance and continuous reliability. This makes it suitable for mission-critical industries such as railroad traffic, aerospace, defense, and industrial automation that need to have safer, smarter, and more reliable applications.

The network surveillance and context awareness technology that's commonly seen in smart cities has extended to the defense sector. By analyzing and integrating the data collected by the sensors with AI technology, managers will be provided with the critical information required to make decisions.

In addition, the integration of the ATO (automatic train operation) technology in railroad traffic scenarios, supported by the edge data analysis and management of items such as train track/platform video monitoring and passenger information system, will also greatly increase the safety of railroad transportation. These new application scenarios all rely on highly stable storage devices and computing systems.
