Macronix International, a maker of ROM and flash memory chips, saw its September revenue increase 11% sequentially while revenue at specialty DRAM and flash memory chipmaker Winbond Electronics slipped 0.7% on month.

Macronix reported revenue of NT$4.14 billion (US$130.5 million) for September 2022, down 27.1% on year. Revenue for the third quarter came to NT$11.47 billion, up 1.2% on quarter but down 23.4% from a year earlier.

Macronix said previously a pick-up in ROM shipments would buoy its sales performance in the third quarter. The company also expects to post sequential revenue increases through the last quarter of this year.

Winbond posted revenue of NT$7.35 billion in September 2022, down 19.3% on year. The company saw its third-quarter revenue fall 16.9% sequentially to NT$22.15 billion.

Winbond warned previously the supply chain in which it is involved would be engaged in "intensive" inventory adjustments during the third quarter, with both its DRAM and NOR flash ASPs poised to register single-digit sequential drops. Demand may pick up in the fourth quarter, depending on the development of macro factors, according to the chipmaker.

Macronix saw its cumulative 2022 revenue through September decrease 4.5% from a year earlier to NT$34.41 billion, while Winbond's revenue grew 2.35% on year to NT$75.31 billion during the nine-month period.

DRAM chipmaker Nanya Technology saw its September revenue drop sequentially for the sixth consecutive month, as a result of falling unit sales and ASPs. The company's revenue declined 38.9% sequentially to NT$11.02 billion in the third quarter, with revenue for the first three quarters of 2022 decreasing 23.7% on year to about NT$49 billion.

Nanya is scheduled to hold its quarterly investor conference on October 11 to discuss its performance in the third quarter and provide a business outlook.
