Fab toolmakers including All Ring Tech, Grand Process Technology (GPTC), Marketech International, Scientech, Trusval Technology and United Integrated Services (UIS), with many being engaged in TSMC's supply chain, are expected to post revenue increases of at least 20% in 2022, according to industry sources.
TSMC is set to enjoy another year of record-high sales in 2022, when its ecosystem partners particularly fab tool suppliers are poised to also embrace strong growth momentum, the sources indicated.
Trusval, for example, has enjoyed strong demand from TSMC, said the sources. Trusval ships functional water supply systems for advanced process manufacturing. Functional water equipment supports eco-friendly production process at foundries like TSMC. Trusval has seen orders placed by TSMC climb as a proportion of its total revenue to over 50%, the sources said.
TSMC is on track to carry out its US$100 billion capacity expansion project over the next three years, which will continue buoying its equipment suppliers' sales performance through 2023, the sources indicated.
TSMC CEO CC Wei met recently with Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen to discuss about the foundry's plans to build a new advanced wafer fab locally in Taichung, central Taiwan. Market observers believe the talks may have been related to TSMC's plans to expand its factory site in Taichung for additional 2nm process capacity.
TSMC disclosed previously plans to build its 2nm wafer fab in the Baoshan area in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan, which will be the major production base for the foundry's 2nm process. Company chairman Mark Liu was quoted as saying in previous reports that Taichung would be where TSMC may expand its factory site for additional 2nm process capacity.
It's worth noting that Wei's meeting with Taichung's mayor came after Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger went on a business trip to Taiwan to meet TSMC and other supply chain partners, according to market observers.
TSMC is also expanding its factory site at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) for 5nm and 3nm process capacity, and is mulling another site in Kaohsiung for 7nm and 28nm process manufacturing. TSMC expects to kick off construction of the Kaohsiung fab in 2022, targeting production starting 2024.
