Electroacoustic component and device maker Ampacs has reported clear visibility for orders from major vendors of TWS (true wireless stereo) devices throughout 2022, and is optimistic about revenue gains for next year, according to company vice chairman James Hsu.

Hsu said at a recent investors conference that Ampacs ventured its products into the supply chain of a leading Indian TWS brand earlier in 2021, with the client now commanding over 30% of the India market. He continued that orders for electroacoustic components from overseas TWS clients can keep its production lines humming all the year in 2022.

Hsu also noted Ampacs now maintains business ties with 90% of global brand vendors of gaming headphones, and has secured significant orders for next year from some of them. It has also landed orders from two new clients this year, but shipments to them will be deferred to the first quarter of 2022 due to shortage of chip components, he added.

Hsu said shortage of chip components remains a major issue for the company and its clients, especially in the segment of wireless gaming headphones. But he disclosed that in order to address the issue, the company will start volume production of alternative solutions by the end of December, with the solutions jointly developed with clients.

Ampacs saw third-quarter shipments from its major manufacturing plant in Vietnam disrupted by a resurgence of the pandemic there, but the capacity utilization at the plant is gradually recovering and may rebound to 70-80% starting in 2022, Hsu said. As its Vietnam plant continues to ramp up capacity supply, Hsu added, the company will scale down production at its plant in Dongguan, China, where labor costs are much higher.

The company's revenues for the first 11 months of the year grew 11% on year reaching NT$5.16 billion (US$185.37 million).
