Taiwan-based UVAT Technology, a supplier of etching and sputtering equipment, expects robust demand for advanced packaging and ABF substrate manufacturing to drive its revenue growth in the second half of 2021.

UVAT is already among the beneficiaries of a fast-growing ABF substrate market, and has cut into the supply chain of major ABF substrate suppliers, the equipment maker indicated.

UVAT has also obtained orders for fan-out panel-level packaging, as well as other advanced packaging, said the company, which has been in recent years growing its business in the semiconductor packaging field.

UVAT disclosed its total equipment orders received thus far this year are already 40% higher than the levels landed in all of 2020.

Also specializing in OEM services for anti-electromagnetic interference (EMI) coating for notebooks and handsets, UVAT enjoyed a boom in the business during 2020 thanks to the rise of coronavirus-induced stay-at-home activities. Demand for notebooks started slowing down in June 2021, however, the company said.

UVAT expects its equipment sales to account for over 50% of the company's overall revenue in 2021. Equipment sales generated 49% of the revenue in the first half of this year.

UVAT reported revenue of NT$393 million (US$14.1 million) for the first seven months of 2021, up 52.3% on year.

UVAT posted EPS of NT$1.36 in the first half of 2021, up from US$0.14 a year earlier.
