Backlit unit (BLU) supplier Coretronic has reported consolidated revenues for April amounted to NT$3.309 billion (US$110.93 million), up 3% on month but down 7% on year. January-April revenues totaled NT$11.677 billion, decreasing 21% from a year earlier.

Shipments of BLU products increased 15.6% sequentially to 3.813 million units in April and will continue to grow mildly in May, said the company.

In April, BLU shipments for notebook applications surged 25% sequentially, while those shipped for monitors, notably for medical-use models, shot up 16%.

It expects shipments of its energy-saving devices, mainly BLUs, to expand 20% sequentially in the second quarter 2020, boosted by continued demand from the notebook sector.

April shipments of projectors and other image solutions totaled 63,000 units, valued at NT$863 million, down 18.8% and 10.6%, respectively, from the previous month, as virus-induced transportation curbs and city lockdowns affected logistics and demand, it said.

Sales of projectors and image products are expected to remain flat in May, it added.
