EMS provider Kinpo Electronics, in view of growing demand due to coronavirus pandemic, will produce ventilators at its factories in Thailand and the Philippines in response to the pandemic, according to industry sources.
Kinpo has obtained ISO 13485 quality management system for medical devices for the ventilators, company CEO Simon Shen has disclosed.
Kinpo-developed ventilators are functionally simpler and less expensive than standard medical models, but they can help patients without severe conditions, the soures said. Besides, Kinpo has been in talks with ventilator vendors in the US for cooperation.
Kinpo will also offer transportation robots that have passed the EU certification EN 60601, Shen said. Such robots can be equipped with UV-C LED modules with CE marking, UL or CSA certifications to become disinfection robots, or with smart sensing modules to carry lab specimens to avoid infection of medical staff.
Kinpo has set up production lines for medical masks at its factories in Thailand, the Philippines and Brazil and plans to produce two million masks in total a month.
To help Taiwan-based makers move production from China to Southeast Asia, Kinpo will develop a100-hectare industrial park in an area near its Thailand factory, according to industry sources. With development to begin at the end of 2020 and completion at year-end 2021 or the beginning of 2022, the park is expected to accommodate 40 supply chain makers, the sources noted.
