Taiwan-based industrial memory module maker Innodisk has acquired a 43% stake in Sysinno Technology, becoming the largest shareholder the Taiwanese sensor technology developer.
Innodisk chairman Randy Chien pointed out that Sysinno will play a major role in its AIoT business deployment and will primarily contribute in the front-end data collection field.
Sysinno was founded in 2012 and its iAeris series products are able to inspect air quality both indoor and outdoor by sensing temperatures, moistures, volatile organic compounds and formaldehyde in the air.
Innodisk reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.92 billion (US$63.09 million) for the third quarter of 2019, rising 13.4% sequentially with gross margin reaching 31.8%, up 7.9pp on year.
After achieving the second-highest-ever monthly revenues in October, the company saw its November revenues drop 18.4% on month to come to NT$598 million. But its sales in the fourth quarter are still expected to grow sequentially thanks to rising DRAM and NAND flash prices as a result of significant demand from datacenter and 5G applications.
Innodisk has also recently formed a strategic partnership with Microsoft to develop AIoT solutions for industrial applications.
