As part of its business diversification efforts, Taiwan ODM Wistron has been keen to develop AIoT solutions, especially for smart healthcare and transportation, with the efforts expected to gradually pay off, according to David Shen, the firm's CEO for Smart Devices.

Shen noted that Wistron just launched an autonomous driving and data integration platform developed in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association, with the platform able to connect to high-definition maps platforms.

Wistron has also teamed up with Green Transit, Taiwan Optical Platform, THI Consultants and National Taiwan University to establish the G-bus MIT autonomous driving team, responsible for integrating and analyzing real-time big data collected from in-vehicle computing systems, communication systems, driving process and other AIoT devices, Shen said.

Shen continued that Wistron and its affiliate Wistron NeWeb are also developing automotive electronics components such as radars, which can be tested on the platforms.

Wistron can leverage its software and hardware integration capability to collect and analyze the data generated from sensors and edge computing devices in the AIoT application domain, according to Shen.
