SGRE obtains conditional order for offshore wind turbines for Taiwan project

Spain-based Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has disclosed it has obtained a conditional order for 47 8MW offshore wind turbines from a project in Taiwan.

The order, which also comes with a 20-year maintenance service, will be finalized subject to investment decision by the two companies devloping the project - Taiwan-based Swancor Renewable Energy and Australia-based Macquarie Capital.

The offshore wind turbines will be used in Formosa 2, an offshore wind farm with installation capacity of 376 MW in the Taiwan Strait. Formosa 2 construction will start in 2020.

SGRE is also supplying 22 6MW offshore wind turbines for use in Formosa 1, an offshore wind farm adjacent to Formosa 2 and currently under development.
