PC vendors looking to raise prices in US, says paper

With the US having raised tariffs on China-imported products from 10% to 25%, some PC brand vendors including Asustek Computer are considering increasing product prices in the US to reflect the extra costs, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News report.

At the moment, most vendors and channel retailers in the US still have inventory that will allow them to maintain their existing prices in the short term, but the prices will eventually increase because of the extra tax, the paper said.

To minimize the impact, many vendors are shifting affected production to outside of China and Asustek is planning to move some of the affected production to plants in Taiwan and Vietnam, the paper noted.
