A healthcare foundation founded by Foxconn Group chairman Terry Guo has signed an MoU with the Merck Group for establishing H.Spectrum & Merck Innovation Lab to develop bio-chip sensors and interfaces, liquid biopsy, medical care management solutions and precision medicine.
H.Spectrum is a startup platform hosted by Gou's YongLin Healthcare Foundation
Foxconn has been aggressively investing in biomedical care-related applications including health checkup, illness tracking, medical equipment, healthcare management, health IoT platform, food safety inspection, molecular detection and DNA cure, after the establishing of a business group for healthcare technology development. The company has also made several investments via YongLin.
Leonard Wu, head of Foxconn's healthcare technology business group and an executive of YongLin, pointed out that through the partnership with Merck, the foundation will be able to discover more biotechnology innovations. With Foxconn's advantages in IT, Wu expects the company to be able to assist startup teams to enhance their solutions.
Since Merck has already been supplying special materials to the Foxconn Group for a long time, the new partnership is expected to further advance Foxconn's involvement in biotechnology business, some market watchers pointed out.
