Chunghwa Telecom has announced that it plans to participate in the B-round fund-raising of Taiwan-based digital gaming startup 4Gamers as part of its efforts to help promote the local e-sports industry and digital economy.
The digital gaming industry has a great deal of potential business opportunities as it has become one of the most eye-catching industries globally, and at the same time, Taiwan also possesses a strong base for the development of the e-sports industry thanks to the availability of high-quality broadband networks and e-sports talents, CHT said.
CHT and 4Gamers will jointly promote the exports of Taiwan's e-sports industry and also hope to establish an e-sports ecosystem in the Southeast Asia region.
Established in 2013, 4Gamers is currently the largest e-sports integrated marketing company in Taiwan. The company's existing investors included the Alibaba Group, Taiwan Entrepreneurs Fund and CDIB Capital.
