Optical transceiver module maker PCL Technologies has reported net profits of NT$97 million (US$3.26 million) for the first quarter of 2018, down 17% on quarter but up 9.8% on year.
The earnings translated into an EPS of NT$1.66 for the first quarter, down slightly from a quarter earlier.
Having seen its revenues drop 16.12% on year to NT$414 million in the first quarter, the company expects its sales to regain momentum starting the second quarter, buoyed by an updated version of its 32G single-mold optical transceiver modules.
Deferred shipments from the first quarter will also help boost revenues for the second quarter, the company added.
PCL is also optimistic about its business prospects for the entire year of 2018 as demand for optical transceiver modules from the data center and enterprise network storage segments is still booming.
