China-based PV module maker and PV EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) contractor ET Solar and mono-Si solar wafer maker Xi'an LONGi Silicon Materials have established a joint venture specifically for marketing the former's mono-Si PV modules mainly in overseas market, according to industry sources.

The cooperation will see LONGi supply mono-Si wafers for ET Solar to produce solar cells and PV modules, the sources said. The joint venture aims to sell more than 500MWp of PV modules in its first year, the sources noted.

For LONGi, the cooperation will substantially increase demand for mono-Si solar wafers, the sources indicated.

Meanwhile, China-based Zhonghuan Huanou will expand production capacity by setting up a solar semiconductor mono-Si wafer factory with annual capacity of 6.0GWp in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China, with investment of CNY5.988 billion (US$896 million), the sources said.

The factory will occupy 34.7 hectares of land with total floor area of 135,000 square meters, the sources noted. Upon the factory's completion, Xhonghuan Huanou's total annual production capacity will increase to 8.0GWp.
