Inventec will begin shipping drones and service robots in the second half of 2016, but these new product lines will only have a limited contribution to revenues, according to David Ho, general manager of Inventec Appliances.
Inventec Appliances is expected to ship 70-75 million smart devices in 2016 and smartphones will account for 40-45 million units, while the rest of the volume will be composed of wearable devices, drones, service robots and self-driving carriages.
Inventec Appliances is also aggressively developing automated production lines for Industry 4.0 business, and its plants in Shanghai and Nanjing, China have adopted robots and self-driving carriages improving production efficiency by 30%.
