Global Lighting Technologies expects light guide plates (LGPs) used in automotive displays and smart wearable devices to each account for over 10% of 2016 consolidated revenues, according to the company.

Global Lighting, through cooperation with Nissan, is showcasing LGPs used in automotive displays, including smart rear-view mirrors, dashboards and in-car lights, at the 2016 Photonics Festival in Taiwan taking place in Taipei during June 15-17. Global Lighting has supplied such LGPs for automakers in North America on an OEM basis, the company said.

For LGPs used in smart wearable devices, Fitbit, Pebble and Garmin are main clients. In addition to Samsung Electronics, Sharp and Sony, Global Lighting has supplied LGPs used in LCD TVs for Vestel, the largest Turkey-based vendor, and is likely to land orders from the second largest Turkey-based vendor Arcelik.

Global Lighting is constructing a factory in central Taiwan and will start production at the factory at the end of third -quarter 2016 or the beginning of the fourth quarter. The factory will initially have five production lines, all for producing TV-use LGPs.
