Facebook plans to set up a data center in a site beside Changhua High-speed Rail Station in Changhua County, central Taiwan, according to the county government.
In response, Facebook indicated that it is seeking suitable locations in Taiwan to set up a data center, but has not yet made a final decision.
Facebook has commissioned a consulting company to survey six candidate locations in Taiwan and is interested in the location beside the high-speed rail station, the county government said. Facebook sent its technical team to check the site in August 2015, the county government noted.
Facebook will use six hectares in total initially and 20 hectares eventually, the county government said. Facebook needs 16.1KV of power supply and will initially consume 1,000 metric tons of water a day, the county government indicated.
