Ledlink Optics, a Taiwan-based maker of secondary optical lenses used in LED lighting, has landed lens orders for use in LED headlights from a Germany-based automotive lighting maker, the company said at an August 11 investors conference.
The secondary optical lenses will be used in automotive headlights, fog lamps and daytime running lamps, with trial production in small volumes beginning in the third quarter of 2015 and volume production to begin in the following quarter, Ledlink said. The Germany-based automotive lighting maker is an OEM for Germany-based automobile makers including Benz-Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and Volkswagen, Ledlink indicated.
In addition, Ledlink is competing for orders from China-, South Korea- and India-based automotive lighting OEMs, the company said.
Ledlink expects revenue proportion from automotive applications to increase from an estimated 2-3% in 2015 to 10% in 2016.
