Radiant Opto-Electronics shipped 7.622 million backlight units (BLUs) in January, dropping on month by 22.91%, according to the company.
The January BLU shipments consisted of 4.149 million units for tablets, 2.994 million units for notebooks, 475,000 units for monitors, 38,000 units for TVs and 6,000 units for others, Radiant said.
Radiant posted consolidated revenues of NT$3.686 billion (US$116 million) for January, decreasing by 23.25% on month and by 33.48% on year. Due to off-season effects and fewer working days arising from 2015 Lunar New Year vacation later in February, Radiant expects shipments and consolidated revenues for February to slip sequentially but they will rebound in March.
Radiant has obtained new orders for BLUs for the 4.7-inch iPhone and 55-inch LCD TVs to be launched by China-based vendor Xiaomi Technology, with shipments to begin in the second quarter of 2015.
