Waltop International, in which Intel Capital holds a 15% stake, has obtained orders for active capacitive pen-input modules from Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell and is talking about orders with other PC vendors, according to the company.
The revenues proportion for active capacitive pen-input modules will rise from 15% in 2014 to 70% in 2015, while passive electromagnetic (EM) solutions will drop from 85% to 30%, said company president Jerry Tang.
Waltop has begun generating profits in recent months and is expected to reach breakeven for all of 2014, Tang added.
While Waltop has continued shipping its EM modules to Asustek Computer, the company has also begun cooperating with a number of smartphone and tablet makers in China, including Gionee, since the beginning of 2014.
Waltop will push sales of its EM pen-input solutions to the financial sector, while targeting its active capacitive solutions at the PC, tablet, smartphone, communications and consumer electronics applications, Tang added.
