The top-two Taiwan-based IC distributors, WPG Holdings and WT Microelectronics, have reported strong sales for August 2013, and the two firms are positive about the business outlook for the third quarter.
WPG saw its August revenues rise 4.3% sequentially and 10.9% from a year earlier to an all-time high of NT$35.66 billion (US$1.2 billion), while WT Microelectronics' August sales gained 7% on month and 6.8% on year to NT$7.81 billion.
For the first eight months of 2013, WPG saw its revenues edge up 9.3% on year to NT$257.1 billion, while WT Micro sales gained 7.3% to NT$56.14 billion during the same period.
WPG and WT Micro are expected to see their sales remain strong in September as clients in China normally will build up inventories prior to the October 1 holidays, according to industry sources.
Sales to China currently account for 79% of WPG's total sales, the sources indicated.
WPG and WT Micron have targeted revenues of NT$105-110 billion and NT$22.2-23.5 billion, respectively, for the third quarter of 2013.
