HTC has unveiled an updated version of its Butterfly family smartphone, the HTC Butterfly S, as well as a midrange model, the HTC Desire 600, initially for the Taiwan market. The two models will be available starting June 28.
The Butterfly S, which comes with a 5-inch 440ppi Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, will carry a suggested retail price of NT$22,900 (US$768).
HTC will continue to supply its HTC Butterfly after the launch of the HTC Butterfly S but there will be a price difference between the two, according to Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia.
Sales of the HTC Butterfly has been strong since its launch in late 2012, said Tong, adding that the product life cycle of the older Butterfly version is likely to last till the end of 2013.
The HTC Desire 600 is powered by a Qualcomm 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 CPU and equipped with a 4.5-inch qHD display. The model will be available at NT$12,900 unlocked.
