Chimei Materials expects increased TV polarizer shipments during March

Chimei Materials' polarizer shipments for 39-inch TV panels are expected to increase heavily by the end of March 2013 due to demand in markets such as China, according to industry sources.

The company has been benefiting from Innolux's shipments of 39-inch TV panels, which have already surpassed one million units in monthly shipments. The sources said Chimei's polarizer products are expected to be used in the panel products when Innolux's shipments pick up in late March among China-based TV vendors demand for the China May 1 holiday period.

Chimei's revenues are expected to pick up in March as a result of the increased panel shipments, added the sources. The company's revenues dropped 22.66% on month in February 2013 and 14.89% on year to NT$1.29 billion (US$43.47 million).

Chimei is responsible for producing about 20% of polarizers used in Innolux's TV panels and 70% in Innolux's monitor and notebook panels, the sources noted.
