Vibo Telecom, one of the five 3G mobile telecom carriers in Taiwan, plans to procure 300,000-400,000 mobile terminal devices for contract-bundled sale in 2013, with smartphones to account for 80% of the volume, the Chinese-language Commercial Times cited company CEO George Chou as indicating.

Contract-bundled sales prices for smartphones are expected to drop from NT$4,000 (US$136) in 2012 to NT$2,500-3,000 in 2013, Chou indicated.

Vibo aims to increase subscribers from 1.8 million currently to two million by the end of 2013 and the proportion of total revenues for data communication services from 30% to 35% in 2013, Chou said.

Vibo has set up a retail chain of 95 self-operated stores and 220 franchised stores around Taiwan and plans to add 80 franchised stores in 2013, Chou noted.
