Arima Communications is expected to ship 12-14 million smartphones in 2013, with NEC and Sony Mobile Communications together taking up over 60% of the shipments, according to an industry estimate.

Arima shipped only three million smartphones in 2012, accounting for one third of its total handset shipments in the year, said industry sources.

Arima began to ship two LTE-enabled models to NEC in the fourth quarter of 2012 and will start shipping the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual to Sony Mobile soon, the sources indicated.

Both of the Xperia E and Xperia E Dual will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 1GHz processor and come with a 3.5-inch display and, 3.2-megapixel camera, supporting xLoud and HD Voice technologies.

Arima is also believed to be developing a new Android smartphone powered by MediaTek's quad-core MT6589 solutions with volume shipments slated for the third quarter of 2013, added the sources.

Arima's revenues for the fourth quarter of 2012 are expected to top NT$8.4 billion. Arima is estimated to generate an EPS of NT$1-1.50 for all of 2012.
