Sales of docking speakers for smartphones in the Taiwan market are expected to increase 200-300% to 20,000-30,000 units in 2012, according to an industry estimate.
Viewing the market potential, brand vendors including Philips, Creative Technology, Sony and Logitech International all have ventured into developing docking speakers, indicated industry sources.
Philips has recently introduced a series of docking speakers exclusively for Android phones into Taiwan, and the company expects its sales of docking speakers, including those supporting iPhones and iPads, in the local market to grow 4-fold in 2012 as compared to the previous year.
Philip's Android docking speakers allow smartphone users to download related applications through Google Play and connect with mobile devices including smartphones and tablet PCs with a built-in Bluetooth connection, said Philips Taiwan, which also added that the docks are able to accommodate any version and any brand of Android phone.
