Touch panel maker TPK Holding has reported consolidated revenues of NT$11.09 billion (US$381.27 million) for August 2011, with a less-than-expected decline of 6% on month as reductions in orders from major clients were mild.
TPK forecast better sales performance in September than August.
As for the third quarter outlook, TPK CFO Freddie Liu said the company expects gross profit margin to reach 17%, compared with 19% in second-quarter 2011, due mainly to a change in product mix.
Liu said although a full lamination process done on its 3.5-inch panels to be shipped in the third quarter will add additional cost and affect profit, the company's profitability will still be able to meet investors' expectations.
TPK also expects sales growth in large-size touch panels, such as all-in-one applications.
Wintek posted consolidated revenue of NT$9.01 billion in August, up 5.84% on-month. Industry sources said major increases in touch panel orders for Apple's iPhone 4 and iPad 2 were driving Wintek's sales.
The observers expect Wintek's September revenues to reach NT$10 billion, as the company reportedly is also a supplier of touch panels for Amazon's 7-inch tablet and Asustek's Eee Pad.
