Taiwan-based motherboard makers Micro-Star International (MSI), Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) and ASRock saw their revenue performance decline in July amid fierce price competition between the top-two players, Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology, in China and Europe.
ASRock announced revenues of NT$843 million (US$29.05 million) for July, down 9.17% on month, but up 3.84% on year, while its combined revenues from January to July reached NT$6.26 billion, up 18.67% on year. ASRock shipped about 650,000-700,000 motherboards in the month with combined shipments in the first seven months of 4.65-4.7 million units.
Despite motherboard demand in the US, Europe and China being lower than expected, ASRock still maintains its annual shipment goal of nine million units in 2011. Currently, ASRock has about 25-30% of its revenues contributed by Europe with Asia Pacific and the US each contributing 25%, and China 12%; therefore, the China market will be the main target market that ASRock will focus on in the second half, the company noted.
Meanwhile, ECS' July revenues dropped 10.36% on month to only NT$4.79 billion while MSI saw revenues of NT$5.64 billion, down 4.02% on month and 13.76% on year. MSI's combined revenues from the first seven months of 2011 were NT$44.25 billion, down 10.9% on year.
