Systek, a Taiwan-based provider of IT management solutions and system integration services, on September 13 announced its subsidiary Taiwan Electronic Data Processing (TEDPC) and US-based Rimage have established a joint venture, Rimage Information Technology (Shanghai), to specifically tap China's management of medical information and imaging systems market, with an initial capital of US$1.2 million and 49% and 51% respective stakes.

TEDPC specializes in providing system integration solutions specifically for hospitals to manage various medical information files including images such as PACS (pictures archiving and communication system), while Rimage is a producer of CD-R, DVD-R and Blu-ray Disc (BD) disc production systems, Systek indicated.

With active investment by the private and government sectors, modernization of hospitals in China is taking off, Systek indicated. The joint venture combines TEDPC's experience in the Taiwan market with Rimage's hardware capabilities to tap the large market potential in China, with large hospitals in main cities being initial target clients, Systek pointed out.
