Taiwan-based Wah Hong Industrial expects its monthly shipments of optical films to increase to 38-40 million units in the third quarter, from 36 million units currently, according to the company.

Taiwan-based AU Optronics (AUO) and Chimei Innolux (CMI) account for 50% and 30%, respectively, of Wah Hong's shipments.

Optical films' ASPs are expected to remain flat sequentially in the second quarter, while the ASPs for reflective sheets are expected to increase by 10% due to tight capacity, the company added.

Market observers expect Wah Hong's revenues in the second quarter to increase by over 10% sequentially, and the company is expected to have a net profit of over NT$100 million (US$3.12 million) with an EPS of up to NT$1.5 for the quarter amid record revenues in April and May.

Supply of light guide plates (LGPs) remains short amid shortages of components such as PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), market sources said.
