LED chipmaker Epistar has reported sequential revenue growth of 12.58% for April, while Tekcore saw its revenues for the month drop 2.48% sequentially.
Epistar's April revenues hit a record at NT$1.64 billion (US$52.05 million), an increase of 12.58% sequentially and 67.51% on year. Accumulated revenues for the first four months of 2010 totaled NT$5.68 billion, up 88.71% on year.
With better-than-expected performance in April, Epistar's sales in the second quarter are likely to beat market observers' previous forecast of a 12% sequential growth, industry sources added.
Tekcore reported a 2.48% sequential drop to NT$200.2 million for its April revenues, which nevertheless increased 104.96% on year. Accumulated revenues for January-April were NT$685.85 million, up 127.39% on year.
The sequential drop was mainly due to Tekcore's inability to meet all the demand for high-brightness (HB) LEDs because of tight capacity, the sources said.
Large-size backlighting products accounted for 85% of its total revenues from January-April, while LED lighting products accounted for 15%, the company noted.
