Taiwan-based LED packaging house Harvatek is expected to report net profits of NT$180 million (US$5.67 million) for 2009 with an EPS of NT$0.98, according to market observers. According to the sources, Harvatek's main business supplying small-size applications, with the related contribution being 70% is for handsets, 20% for home appliances and 10% for notebook and netbook keyboards.
Revenues for handset backlighting will account for 50% of its total revenues in 2010, up from 20% in 2009. The revenue share of LEDs for handset keyboard backlight will drop to 20% in 2010, down from 50% in 2009. The product ASP is expected to increase by 8% in 2010, the sources added.
Harvatek has received LED orders for LCD TV backlights from China and Korea and will start shipments at the end of the second quarter, the sources said, adding that LEDs for large-size backlighting will be a growth driver for 2010.
In terms of the LED lighting market, Harvatek has a 13% stake in Edison Opto, which concentrates on high-power lighting-use LEDs.
Market watchers expects to see 30% revenue growth for Harvatek in 2010 amid an increased shipment share of higher margin products. Revenues for March are expected to reach NT$300 million.
