LCD TV OEM orders are unlikely to see any significant increases until 2011-2012, as many major vendors still have sufficient production capacities of their own, according to Compal Electronics president Ray Chen.
But with competition in the LCD TV market getting fiercer, brand vendors are likely to begin releasing more OEM orders in 2011-2012, Chen indicated.
Analyzing individual vendors, Chen said Samsung Electronics has hardly released any LCD TV orders, and it is unlikely to do so in the near future.
Toshiba has the highest proportion of outsourced LCD TV product on among all Japan-based vendors, which has helped it expand its share in the market, the Compal president said.
Compal expects to ship 3.5 million LCD TVs to Toshiba and other vendors in 2009, and shipments are likely to grow significantly in 2010, Chen added.
