Taiwan-based LED chipmaker Opto Tech plans to ramp up its capacity of blue LEDs to 400 million units a month in the fourth quarter of 2009 from 300 million currently, due to increasing orders for monitor backlighting, according to the company.
Innolux Display, a major client for Opto Tech, will be able to take up all blue LED chips from Opto Tech, said industry sources, who estimated that Innolux will ship 9-10 million LED-backlit monitors in 2009.
Opto Tech also plans to further boost its monthly capacity of blue LED chips to 600 million units in 2010, the company revealed.
