China-based solar wafer supplier LDK Solar expects a net loss of US$180-200 million for the second quarter of 2009, according to the company's latest outlook for the quarter.
For the second quarter, LDK Solar expects to report US$225-235 million in revenues, slightly above the previously announced estimated range, and wafer shipments between 230-240MWp, the company said.
LDK Solar expects to record a write-down of US$150-60 million against the cost of inventories for a decline in net realizable value of inventories resulting from the continued market price decline for solar wafers, it said, adding the gross margin is expected to be negative.
LDK Solar said it will report its full second-quarter results on August 12, 2009.
