Memory IC designer Etron sales up 47% in 2Q09

Etron Technology saw its sales for second-quarter 2009 grow almost 47% sequentially, with its on-year decline of only 10.7%, compared to a 39.8% drop recorded in the second quarter of 2008. The memory IC design house has enjoyed sequential revenue growth since January.

Etron announced net sales in June 2009 were NT$584 million (US$18 million), up 1.6% from NT$574 million sequentially, but down 6.7% on year. Accumulated revenues from April through June totaled NT$1.72 billion, representing a 46.9% increase from NT$1.17 billion in first-quarter 2009.

June marked Etron's highest monthly revenues for 2009 so far, according to the company, adding that it has continuously developed products with advanced processes to lower costs. Etron's sales for January-June reached almost NT$2.9 billion, down 32.9% from 2008.

Fellow rival Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology (ESMT) saw revenues for the second quarter grow 50.3% sequentially to NT$1.14 billion. Accumulated sales for January through June totaled about NT$1.91 billion, down 31.6% from NT$2.79 billion a year ago.
