A-Data Technology and Transcend Information saw revenues for May 2009 slide sequentially as a result of seasonality. On an annual basis, both memory module makers experienced double-digit drops amid falling demand.

A-Data generated revenues of NT$1.65 billion (US$49.5 million) in May, down 29.5% sequentially and 37.1% on year. DRAM accounted for 48.4% of its total revenues, with sales generated from the segment down about 18.1% on month. As for NAND flash, the segment also slid 37.7% sequentially to NT$851 million in May.

A-Data earlier estimated revenues for the second quarter would remain flat sequentially.

Transcend announced revenues for May at NT$2.03 billion, decreases of 29% on month and 22.5% on year. NAND flash products accounted for 63.3% of its total sales for the month, and DRAM modules almost 20%. Meanwhile, the company's high-margin strategic products (such as digital photo frames and external hard drives) contributed NT$339 million to the revenues.

Transcend said it expects to see some sequential growth in June, thanks to restocking demand in preparation for the upcoming peak season.
